The industrial character of the region drives demand for roof membrane systems and industrial floor coatings; our PVC and TPO membrane solutions are particularly favoured on wide span warehouse and factory roofs. Kocaeli is also one of the provinces closest to the epicentre of the 1999 earthquake, which makes it a reference point for the importance of foundation drainage based on a proper geotechnical survey. We run projects regularly in Gebze, Izmit, Darica, Golcuk and Korfez.

The three situations we meet most often in Kocaeli

Large span factory and warehouse roofs. On industrial buildings the roof area is large, so a single detail failure affects a wide area. Mechanically fastened synthetic membrane is advantageous here because the welds made by machine are consistent. Leaks mostly begin not on the open surface but at rooflights, chimneys and service penetrations.

High water table in buildings near the gulf shore. Along the İzmit Gulf shoreline, proximity to sea level means a constant water load on basements and below ground spaces. Waterproofing installed without drainage in this area does not reach its design life.

Spaces in chemical contact at industrial plants. In effluent collection pits, treatment structures and spaces beneath process lines the problem is not water pressure but chemical attack. Epoxy or polyurea coatings with documented chemical resistance are used in these spaces.

What we look at during the survey

The existing membrane type and fastening method on the roof, the number and condition of detail points, distance to the gulf and water table level, the time window available given continuous production, and in chemically loaded spaces the nature of the environment and confined space safety conditions.
